From New York to South Carolina, BDI Racing Raises the Bar
Three Dillners Succeed On Dirt and Asphalt In One Weekend

From South Carolina to New York, BDI racing had an impact all across the country on August 8 th and 9 th . At Anderson Motor Speedway (SC), Meghan Dillner kept on trucking in her Pro Challenge truck. At the same time brothers Bob and Matthew Dillner were helping raise funds for Motor Racing Outreach (MRO) at a dirt racing event at Black Rock Speedway in Dundee, NY.

Meghan Dillner has been learning the ranks of the Pro Challenge division after moving up from the Bandolero class earlier this season. In only a few short weeks, she has became a contender each and every time out. Her trip to Anderson Motor Speedway was no exception, as the 15-year-old qualified on the outside of the front row.

“We learned early on in practice that you really have to let off going into the corners so you can get a good run up off the corner,” said Meghan. “I did what my crew chief Dustin (Archer) told me to do and we qualified second.”

The endurance of a 50 or 35-lap feature is much different then the sprint races that Bandolero drivers run each week. Meghan has learned how to deal with the longer runs that drivers face in the Pro Challenge division. She ran with leader Clint King for a good chunk of the race before

losing traction late in the race, dropping her to fourth in the final standings.

“I was driving in too hard at the end of the race. I was trying to run down the leader. This is where I need to be right now driving Pro Challenge cars and trucks. When I would race in Bandoleros it was wreck after wreck. It seemed like we could never get runs going to keep racing. With Pro Challenge, you get some long runs so you can really build a rhythm to pass some cars. I love racing in the Pro Challenge Series.”

While Meghan was driving in South Carolina, her father, SPEED TV personality Bob Dillner, was racing to help raise money for the Motor Racing Outreach program. Bob and his brother Matt took part in the special races at Black Rock Speedway in Dundee , NY

“It was a lot of fun, but the best part about it was we raised money for a great cause,” said Bob Dillner. MRO (Motor Racing Outreach) does a lot for the racing community, from faith services to helping driver rehab and so forth. It was great to finally give back to them when they give back to use so much.”

Bob Dillner borrowed a 358 Modified from Ray “Zeke” Bliss. It was a pretty good hot rod as Bob out-ran Modified veteran Buzzie Reutimann. At the same time, he came home second to Buzzie's son, Sprint cup driver David Reutimann.

“Those 358 Modifieds are one of my favorite types racecars,” added Bob. “It was one of the highlights of my life to finish in front of Buzzie Reutimann. I can remember watching him drive his double-zero at Islip Speedway in New York , when I was just a kid in the stands. I have to thank Zeke Bliss for allowing me to race his car for the second year in a row. Alex Hoag whose family owns the track called me and said ‘you were third last year, second this year, next year you have to win it.'”

Bob also got to race his brother Matt, who helped organize the event which raised $2,000 for MRO. Bob jumped in a four-cylinder enduro car while his brother Matt had a six-cylinder machine. Matt had the last laugh as he passed his brother for the win.

“He passed me going into one and I though about taking him out. I said, “no this means too much to him,” joked Bob Dillner. “I was happy that we got to finish one-two at Black Rock Speedway, one of the premier short track facilities in the nation.”

The BDI Racing team will be back in action on Saturday, August 16th when Meghan Dillner pilots her #151 Chevy Silverado in the Pro Challenge North Region event at Dillon Motor Speedway (SC).
