Michael Pope & BDI Racing Hit Home Run for "Rally Against Cancer"
Team Hits Goal With Support From the Fans at Hickory Motor Speedway

Michael Pope, Meghan Dillner and the BDI Racing team jumped behind the Jimmy Fund and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute with a target of $1000 to raise at the team's two events during the first week of the Major League Baseball season. With support from family, friends and fans, the BDI Racing team has exceeded their goal with all money donated going directly to the Jimmy Fund to aid in the research of cancer and its treatments in children and adults at Dana-Farber.

"The race weekend didn't go quite how we planned, but we were able to have a great turnout of fans and supporters donate to the Jimmy Fund and the Rally Against Cancer, which is awesome," said BDI Racing's Super Late Model driver Michael Pope. "We have had a lot of fans, family and more donate to the Rally Against Cancer and it was great to be able to exceed our goal over the weekend."

The Rally's final weekend got off to a soggy start for the BDI team, as 15-year-old Meghan Dillner's Pro Challenge North Region National Points event at Tri-County Motor Speedway in Hudson, North Carolina was rained out and rescheduled for May 22nd.

Mother Nature was far kinder to Michael Pope the next day, however, as sunny skies shone on the BDI Racing #51 Chevy Impala SS Super Late Model at HIckory Motor Speedway in North Carolina.

While the high hopes for success in the Easter Bunny 150 were dashed in the race by an ill-handling racecar, the positive point of the day came with the goal of the team's Rally Against Cancer being met and exceeded at Hickory. In exchange for a donation to the Rally Against Cancer, Pope signed autographs pre-race and one lucky donor even won a giant Easter basket courtesy of the Easter Bunny's recent trip to the BDI Racing shop in Concord, NC.

"We made a new fan, Xavier, who won our giant Easter Basket," added Pope. "We were really good during practice and pretty good in qualifying, but when it came time for the race the car started getting really loose. We didn't have the finish we wanted, but being able to support the Jimmy Fund and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute was a great experience for our entire team and we'll be doing everything we can to raise even more moeny for them all season long.
