BDI Racing, Michael Pope to Tackle the "Watermelon 125" at Cordele
BDI Team Supporting "Rally Against Cancer" at Watermelon Capital Speedway in Georgia

BDI Racing and driver Michael Pope will help the Championship Racing Association (CRA) South Division kick off its inaugural season on Saturday, April 4th at Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele, Georgia. Pope will pilot the “Rally Against Cancer,” Country Inns and Suites of Cordele, GA, number-51 Chevrolet Super Late Model in the “Watermelon 125” CRA South opener at WCS. The event will be Pope's fourth start of the 2009 season for BDI Racing, a driver development program based in Concord, North Carolina which is owned by NASCAR on SPEED broadcaster Bob Dillner.

BACK AT THE ‘MELON – The “Watermelon 125” will only mark the second Super Late Model start at Watermelon Capital Speedway for BDI Racing, but driver Michael Pope is quite familiar with. Pope's hometown of Dublin, Georgia, is only 45 minutes from WCS and the 19-year-old driver considers the 3/8-mile D-shaped oval his home track. Pope has competed at WCS in Legends Cars and in his family-owned Late Models in years past, including a fourth-place finish in a Super Late Model event at WCS with the PASS South tour in 2008.

RALLYING AGAINST CANCER – Michael Pope and BDI Racing's team owner, NASCAR on SPEED broadcaster Bob Dillner, have opened up their team and encouraged its fans, sponsors and

supporters to join them in the fight against cancer by making donations to the Jimmy Fund's Rally Against Cancer program. Fans and supporters of the BDI Racing team and of racing in general will be able to make donations to the Jimmy Fund, an official charity of the Boston Red Sox, with all funds raised being donated to benefit cancer research and patient care at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Massachusetts. BDI Racing's team and driver Michael Pope will also donate 20 percent of the team's winnings from the April 4th Watermelon 125 CRA Super Series South event at WCS and the April 11th Easter Bunny 150 Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South event at Hickory Motor Speedway in North Carolina, to the Jimmy Fund, while also collecting donations to the Jimmy Fund at the track.

SLEEPIN' GOOD IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD - The BDI Racing #51 Chevrolet Impala SS team will enjoy the cozy confines of Country Inn & Suites in Cordele, GA this weekend. Fans of the BDI Racing team may be able to take advantage of a limited amount of rooms left at the newest and best hotel in Cordele this weekend. Simply call (229) 273-7117 and ask for Tammi Griffin and mention “BDI Racing.”

TRADING DANCING SHOES FOR RACING SHOES – Pope earned his high school diploma as a home-schooled student in the spring of 2008 in order to pursue his racing career on a more full-time basis. But, had he stayed at West Laurens High School instead of switching to home-schooling, this Saturday, April 4 th would be his Senior Prom day. Pope had intentions of attending the prom with his old high school friends, but Pope will now be skipping the prom to compete at Watermelon Capital Speedway the same day.

RIPPIN' THE RED ROCKET – BDI Racing, traditionally known for their jet-black racecars, will have a red paintjob on their #51 Chevrolet this weekend at Watermelon Capital Speedway. The “Red Rocket,” one of the three cars in the BDI Racing shop, was Pope's primary short track car in previous seasons driving for his family.

BUSY STRETCH AHEAD – This Saturday's “Watermelon 125” will kick off a busy stretch of racing for the BDI Racing team. Pope will pilot the #51 Chevrolet Super Late Model at Watermelon Capital Speedway this weekend, then hop aboard the team's black #51 car for the “Easter Bunny 150” PASS South event at Hickory Motor Speedway next Saturday, April 11th. On Friday, April 10th, Pope's BDI Racing teammate Meghan Dillner will compete in the Pro Challenge Series first National Points event in the North Region of the 2009 season at Tri-County Motor Speedway in Hudson, North Carolina.

WHAT ABOUT BOB? – While BDI Racing team owner will not be in Cordele for the “Watermelon 125,” he will be the most attentive listener to RaceTalkRadio.com and Speed 51 Radio's live broadcast of the event on Saturday. Dillner will be at Texas Motor Speedway covering the NASCAR events there this weekend for SPEED, but will be in attendance for both ends of the Easter weekend doubleheader weekend at Tri-County and Hickory next weekend.

SUPPORTING THOSE WHO SUPPORT US – In addition to the support from Country Inn & Suites of Cordele, the “Rally Against Cancer” logos will adorn the hood of the red #51 for BDI Racing and Michael Pope this weekend at WCS. Further support for the team's efforts include Buffalo Wild Wings of Concord, North Carolina, MAC Tools, Chevrolet, Racing Electronics, Builders Concrete Supply, Circle Racing Wheels, Wix Filters and Hedman Husler Hedders.
