Plott Wins Big Against Big Competition at Lanier
13-Year-Old to Race BDI's #51 Buffalo Wild Wings Car at LMS During All-Star Weekend

This spring, Lanier National Speedway in Braselton, GA, has been the hotbed of Legends Car racing around the Southeast. To beat the best in the business is the goal of any racecar driver and exactly what 13-year-old Kyle Plott did against 22 other racers in Saturday's Legends main event at Lanier.

The Georgia native started seventh in the 20-lap feature, took the lead on lap 10 and cruised to the victory.

“Right when I strapped in that car, I thought that something good would happen,” explained Plott. “I was driving the car real smooth and trying to be smart. We were working our way up through the field while dodging a lot of wrecks on the way. I finally got up to the front while passing the number 8 and 19 for the lead. I knew I had to be smart with all of those guys on me, so I pulled away and got-r-done.

“The best part was racing with all of the guys from North Carolina and other areas that are really competitive. We had fun in Texas a few weeks ago, but this means a lot more due to the competition that was at Lanier.”

Kyle Plott has been among the hottest Legends Car drivers in the South so far in 2009.

“It feels like we are building some momentum for the rest of the year. It also feels really good to finally get a win at Lanier, since I have been so close before. I couldn't have done it without God, most importantly, and my Mom, Dad, Kason (brother), Jerry Garland, Doug Stevens and BDI Racing helping me through thick and thin.

“We are looking hard for sponsorships that will help us hire some help where we can be a lot more consistent. It is really hard on my dad trying to keep the Legends Car, a Pro Challenge and a Bando (with brother Kason) running up front by himself. I can't wait ‘til this summer, though! I really want to be running up front in the Summer Shootout with BDI Racing.”

Plott also competed in the Pro Challenge National 30-lap event on Saturday at Lanier. Plott was able to muster up a sixth-place finish with an extremely loose racecar.

“We were flying in practice Friday night. Then we got new tires for the race, and they were not as fast as the old ones.  I know I have a better car than we showed this past weekend. It is really frustrating; I am not saying that we would have won, but we should have been top 3 at least.”

Plott will now race BDI Racing's Buffalo Wild Wings #51 Legends Car on Thursday, May 21 st at Lowe's Motor Speedway as part of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Pole Night festivities.

“I'm really looking forward to that because of two things,” said Plott. “First, I love Buffalo Wild Wings and second, I know how important that number-51 is to Bob (Dillner, car owner and SPEED TV commentator). Plus I want to race in the toughest events, and North Carolina has some of the best competition in Legends Car racing. It will be a lot of fun.”
