BDI Drivers Have Mixed Nights in Lowe's Summer Shootout Round Five
Plott and Ruston Score Top-10 Finishes, but True Speed Not Shown in Finishes

Kyle Plott rockets through turn two at Lowe's Motor Speedway en route to a top-10 finish.

So much can change in the blink of an eye at the Summer Shootout at Lowe's Motor Speedway (NC). BDI development drivers Kenzie Ruston and Kyle Plott know that all too well. Each has shown they are talented behind the wheels of their Legends Cars, but the unexpected can always prevent good finishes. But, with a strong effort on both drivers' parts, top-10 finishes can still be in order even when things don't go their way, as was the case in round five of the Shootout on July 7th.

The first top-10 effort came from Ruston, who entered the night as the National Points leader in the Semi-Pro Legends division. Starting on the pole looked to be promising as she led the first 10 laps before disaster struck.

“I was running away and some cars got into it and the caution came out,” said Ruston. “I guess the guy behind me wasn't patient enough and tried to take me out. It's alright, we had a fast car. I'll be fast next week.”

Ruston overcame the spin and a multi-car pile up to finish seventh.

Plott motored into the top 10 with all his might in the Young Lions feature and simply ran out of laps to get higher than his sixth-place finishing position.

“We had a good car on Tuesday at Lowe's,” said Kyle. “We got a good start when they threw the green. Once I got into the top 10, we couldn't get any higher then sixth. We had a better car then we showed, but Lowe's is a tough place to race. We just need to improve and I need to improve as a driver. We'll hit on a set-up and get things right.”

Both drivers will be back in action, under the BDI Racing banner, next Tuesday night, July 14th at Lowe's Motor Speedway (NC).
